On January 20, members of the bollywood came together to celebrate the best of Bollywood cinema in the year 2017, at the Filmfare Awards ceremony, in Worli, Mumbai.
Shah Rukh Khan and Karan Johar hosted the event.
Hindi Medium was announced as the Best Film, and Irrfan Khan won Best Actor In a Leading Role (Male) for the film.
Vidya Balan won Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female), for her portrayal as a vibrant homemaker, turned radio jockey, in the film Tumhari Sulu. This is her sixth Filmfare Award in her career.
Ashwini Iyer Tiwari won the Best Director Award, for Bareilly Ki Barfi.
This was indeed a pleasant turn of events, compared to the previous award show, where Golmaal Again won Best Film and Varun Dhawan won Best Actor award for Badrinath Ki Dulhaniya. Hindi Medium and Newton hadn’t even been considered in the major categories.
