Megastar Amitabh Bachchan attended teaser launch of upcoming film based on former Shivsena Supremo Bal Thackeray in the presence of Shivsena MP Sanjay Raut, Shivsena chief Uddhav Thackeray and Nawazuddin Siddiqui on Thursday in Mumbai. While addressing the teaser launch event, Bachchan stated that web series should be made on Bal Thackeray as it would be interesting for generations to know a man like him.
Amitabh Bachchan suggested the makers to make a series on Bal Thackeray instead of just one film. He said, “I want to request you not to limit the larger than life personality like him into a three-hour movie. I think in today’s time when we watch so many web series, we can make a series on Bal Thackeray to capture different phases of his life and personality. It will be really interesting for the generation to know a man like him.”
Remembering Thackeray, Bachchan told writer of the film Sanjay Raut, “I am glad that you have taken the step to make a film on Bal Saheb. I wish you all the luck for the successful making of the film. If you need anything, any contribution from my end in whichever capacity, please allow me to know about it. I will be more than happy to be a part of the making of the film.”
Bachchan said Thackeray stood by him in his tough times.
“I was hurt during the shoot of my film ‘Coolie’, and was hospitalised in a critical state in Bengaluru and when I was being brought to Mumbai, days weren’t good due to monsoon. I did not get an ambulance at that time, due to rain, but Balasaheb’s Shiv Sena ambulance was available. If this did not happen, I could have been more in danger,” he said.
“There were instances in my life when there were some allegations on me, Balasaheb used to often call me and ask if it is true or not, he used to call me home, saying I want to talk to you.
“One such incident happened when there were allegations on me and my family and Balasaheb called me at his home and asked what is the truth, I told him I am talking truth, he told me don’t be afraid, I am with you. No one stood by me as much as he did,” the veteran actor recalled.
