Neeraj Vora was a genius but people didn’t get to see all of it; says Vipul Shah

After a prolonged illness and hospitalization Bollywood Director, writer, actor and producer Neeraj Vora took his last breath at the age of 54. He died at 3 am in Criti Care hospital in Juhu. He had been in coma and living at Firoz Nadiadwala’s place. When his condition deteriorated in the night, he was taken to the hospital, where he breathed his last.” Last year in October he had a heart attack and a brain stroke and had been on ventilator support ever since.

On Monday, a prayer meet was held at Stree Mandal in Santacruz at 5pm. Lot of his friends and colleagues were seen. Firoz Nadiawala told, “Religious Hymns recorded on the taar shehnai by Neeraj’s father, Pandit Vinayak Nanalal Vora, played all through the chautha. It was good to see his friends and colleagues show up and remember him,” to a renowned daily.

Filmmaker Vipul Shah also attended the prayer meet. He said that he didn’t work with him on a film, he shared a long association. He said, “HE was a genius but people didn’t get to see all of it, now that ultimately death has taken him away. I have never seen a guy with a better sense of humour. He used it to tackle all the challenges.”

Vipul and Neeraj studied together. He also remembered that Vora had directed some plays and also acted in some of them. He also informed that they also went through some financial issues but he was always spirited. “We had no money so we went through tough times together but he was always spirited. We kept discussing projects. While nothing worked out, our friendship continued.”

Director duo Abbas-Mustan, actor Kay Kay Menon, Pooja Bhatt, Deepak Tijori, Anang Desai, Rajeev Mehta, Bharat Shah and many more were presented at the prayer meet.
