DEEPIKA SAYS, “IT WOULD BE NICER TO FEEL SAFER OR PROTECTED AT THIS POINT”

Spread the love

The most controversial topic running around the country is that of Padmavati. It seems like it is the only topic left to discuss. Some people are reacting so hard without any reason. And more over the issue is that the movie is not been released yet. Sanjay Leela Bhansali and DeepikaPadukone are been threatened from someone openly taking out their sword on national television to members of the Karni Sena offering a bounty of Rs 10 crores for their heads. The film had to deal with lot of tantrums while shooting as well and are still facing.
Deepika finally reacted to the controversy when asked if she’d like to have better protection from the state. She told BBC World News, “In an ideal world, yes. I think it is too soon to tell… But yes it would be nicer to feel safer or protected at this point.” She added saying “It is hurtful and it is sad. Cinema has the power to bring the people together, to unite people and to spread love. It is disheartening sometimes that people don’t recognise that.”
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s attempt to bring alive the story of Rajput queen Rani Padmavati on the silver screen with his movie Padmavati hasn’t gone down well with Hindu groups backed by the BJP. It features Deepika as Rani Padmavati, Shahid Kapoor as her husband and a warrior king and Ranveer Singh essays Alauddin Khilji.
It is said the history is not has been misshaped. Because of all the barriers facing the releasing date has been delayed.
Talking about gender dynamics she also said that “Yes, I’ve seen that transition. In the kind of films being made, in the kind of films I’m being offered, in the roles that are being written, and with women behind the camera not just in front of the camera.”
Let’s hope that this matter gets resolved quickly and the film maker gets the opportunity to work with liberty.
